Jewelry Collection Consultation Services
Whether you’ve inherited a jewelry collection, are preparing to downsize, or simply want to better understand the pieces you’ve accumulated over the years, knowing where to begin can sometimes feel overwhelming.
At Enduring Elements, I offer personalized jewelry consultations to help you identify, organize, document, and explore options for your jewelry—without automatically committing to a formal appraisal.
Some clients need help sorting through an entire collection. Others already know what they have and simply want selected pieces documented or researched.
Every collection is different, and services are tailored to your individual needs.
Inherited Jewelry? Not Sure What to Do Next?
Inheriting jewelry can bring a lot of questions. Before deciding what to keep, share with family, sell, or have appraised, it helps to understand what you have.
I’ve put together a simple guide to help you navigate those first steps and make informed decisions about your inherited jewelry.
Jewelry Sorting & Verbal Consultation
$100 per hour
When you’re not sure what you have or where to begin.
Whether you’ve inherited a jewelry box full of unfamiliar pieces, accumulated jewelry over the years, or want to better understand what you own, a Jewelry Sorting & Verbal Consultation is a great place to start.
During this hands-on appointment, I’ll help you sort through your collection, distinguish fine jewelry from costume jewelry, and identify pieces that may deserve closer attention. Depending on the jewelry, this may include metal testing, weighing, and gemstone identification.
We’ll also discuss which pieces may be primarily valued for their precious-metal content, which may have additional resale potential, and which might benefit from further examination or a formal appraisal.
The goal is to give you a clearer understanding of your collection so you can make informed decisions about what to keep, share, document, or consider selling.
How much time should I plan for?
As a general guideline, approximately 10-15 jewelry pieces can be reviewed per hour. More complex or unusual pieces may require additional time for testing and examination.
This service provides verbal guidance only. No written documentation or monetary valuations are included.
Personal Jewelry Catalog
$150 per hour
When you want an organized record of your jewelry, for today and future generations.
A Personal Jewelry Catalog is a professionally prepared, photographic record of selected fine jewelry and personally meaningful pieces. Whether you’ve inherited jewelry, are organizing your own collection, or want to make things easier for loved ones in the future, a catalog helps preserve important information about the pieces that matter most.
Each selected item receives a more detailed examination and is documented with photographs, a description, and relevant identifying details, which may include:
Total item weight and metal fineness
Gemstone identification
Approximate gemstone measurements, when obtainable
Distinguishing characteristics
Personal or family history, when provided
Your jewelry is then organized into a personalized digital catalog, typically featuring two photographs per item and two to three jewelry pieces per page.
The finished catalog provides a convenient reference for your own records and can be shared with family members, heirs, or trusted individuals who may one day assist with your affairs.
How much time will my catalog take?
Because each collection is unique, the time required depends on the number and complexity of the pieces selected for documentation. The hourly fee includes both the in-person examination and photography of your jewelry and the preparation of your completed catalog afterward.
Personal Jewelry Catalogs do not include gemstone grading, monetary valuations, or formal appraisals.
Can I begin with a consultation and decide about a catalog later?
Absolutely! Many clients find it helpful to begin with a Jewelry Sorting & Verbal Consultation before deciding which pieces they would like to document.
If you choose to move forward with a Personal Jewelry Catalog, information gathered during your initial consultation may be incorporated into the catalog when appropriate, reducing the additional time needed for examination and documentation.
You’ll only be charged for the additional work required to complete your catalog, at the Personal Jewelry Catalog hourly rate.
You may also schedule a Personal Jewelry Catalog directly if you already know which pieces you would like documented.
